Guardian Visa under CRICS

Before you fill out this form please read the following:

Each parent receiving a Guardian Visa must submit this form.

Parents of those on a Student Visa may request paperwork to apply for a Guardian Visa. Please inform yourself of the rules by the Thai government that are requirements for obtaining a Guardian Visa.

By Thai law the Guardian Visa allows a parent to live in Thailand for the purpose of caring for their children. It is against the law for a parent on a Guardian Visa to work or volunteer. CRICS will not request a Guardian Visa on behalf of a parent who is working for another organization.

Additionally, there must be 500,000 baht in a Thai bank account for 1 month before the Guardian Visa can be renewed the first time (it must be in the name of each parent who is a Guardian). The first time the visa will need to be renewed in Chiang Rai will be ninety days after your entry to Thailand or anytime before the 90th day. There must be 500,000 baht in a Thai bank account three months before the Guardian visa is renewed the second year and every year following.

One parent can “follow” one child.

The CRICS fee for a Guardian visa is 3000 baht per parent per school year. The family is responsible for all visa application costs.

If a parent receives a “Guardian Visa” under CRICS then the parent must inform the superintendent every school year of their main ministry and activities outside of CRICS. Also, since they are under a “Guardian visa” they are also representatives of CRICS and must agree with our statement of faith and ministry/lifestyle statements. The parents needs to be aware of and follow the laws of Thailand and do only what is appropriate while on a “Guardian visa”. If you choose to not follow the laws of Thailand while on a “Guardian visa” it puts both you and CRICS at risk. Doing anything inappropriate or unlawful while on a “Guardian visa” may jeopardize your ability to hold or renew a visa under CRICS.
