Lifestyle of Volunteers

Our mission at Chiang Rai International Christian School (CRICS) is to “serve the servant by providing quality, innovative, family-oriented English Christian Education.” Teachers and staff in a Christian school must be ever mindful that they instruct not only through formal explanation but even more powerfully through example and shared experience.

As a teacher/volunteer/expatriate staff member at CRICS, I am called to prepare young men and women to live fully for God. In order to accomplish my mission, I acknowledge that I have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and I am committed to a lifestyle based on biblical standards of conduct.

In cultivating a Christ-centered perspective on all of life:

  • I will honor God in all my relationships and activities and will strive to rid myself of anger, greed, impure thoughts, and whatever else belongs to my “sinful” nature. (Galatians 5:19-21)
  • I will earnestly strive to honor God with all that I say and do, and to love others as evidence of my love for God. I will practice compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience and choose to respect, bear with, and forgive others. (Mark 12:28-31) Hateful and harassing speech or attitudes directed towards any individual are not in accord with the Bible nor CRICS’s Statement of Faith.
  • I will exercise godly wisdom, sensitivity, discipline, and balance in my lifestyle choices in order to avoid offense and provide a godly model for my students, colleagues, and community. This includes refraining from the use of profanity; possession or use of pornographic materials; promotion of violence; possession, use, or promotion of unauthorized controlled substances or illegal drugs; and the abuse of any drugs and alcohol.
  • I will engage with the church through regular attendance at a local church and fellowship with believers. (Hebrews 10:25, Colossians 3:16, Acts 2:42)
  • In the event of a disagreement with an adult member of the community, I will address my concerns directly in keeping with the principles of Scripture, (Matthew 18)
  • I will support the school’s belief that all human life is sacred and created by God in His image. I will treat everyone with dignity and respect and strive to provide a safe and protected learning environment for them. I will refrain from any behavior that violates CRICS’s child safety guidelines. (Psalm 139)
  • I will support the school’s belief that the term marriage has only one meaning: the uniting of one man and one woman in an exclusive union (Genesis 2:18–25) and that God intends sexual intimacy to occur only between a man and a woman who are married to each other (1 Corinthians 6:18, 7:2–5; Hebrews 13:4). Based upon the teaching of the Bible, CRICS believes behavior that falls short of biblical purity includes premarital, extra-marital, bisexual, incestuous and homosexual forms of sexual conduct, and provocative sexual behavior.
  • I will support the school’s belief that God created each person as either male or female in conformity with their biological sex. These two distinct genders reflect the image and nature of God (Genesis 1:26–27). I agree to live in accordance with the gender God assigned to me at birth.
  • In summary, I will strive to be a Christian role model who hates evil and clings to what is good, regards each person with love and respect, is diligent and enthusiastic in service to the Lord, rejoices in hope, is patient in affliction, prays steadfastly, shares with those in need, attempts to live in peace and harmony with everyone, does what is right and honorable, avoids pride and revenge, and is not overcome by evil but overcomes evil with good. (Romans 12:9-21)

A lifestyle not aligned with biblical standards of conduct is grounds for dismissal because it violates the occupational qualification for volunteers to be Christian role models and hinders CRICS from fulfilling its mission. This agreement is not an exhaustive list, and we reserve the right to make institutional decisions (including hiring, placement, and retention) based on lifestyle decisions and behaviors that may hinder our mission as a Christian school.
